The Lions Charity Foundation of District 24D asked you to come on out and buy, buy, buy at our annual Bid ‘n Buy Auction and you didn’t let us down! Two hundred guests attended the event held on Saturday, October 4, at the Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Chesapeake. Lions, friends and families took advantage of the great deals offered on the 273 items up for auction. There was a sea of items to choose from thanks to the hard work of nearly half the Lions Clubs throughout the district. Everyone in attendance enjoyed a fun filled day helping us raise $17,850 to benefit a great cause.
Two new activities this year, the Poker Run and the Service Grant Incentive Program, were both successful. Nineteen adventurous souls enjoyed the scenic ride through Hampton Roads to join us at the auction. A total of $3,000 in incentive service grants were earned by the nine clubs who met attendance goals and the three clubs who won a $250 grant through the raffle drawing. The Charity Foundation Board of Directors extend a very special thanks to the Bid ’n Buy auction chair and committee, all the Lions who sold raffle tickets, bought program ads, secured donations, prepared food or volunteered that day. We couldn’t have done it without you! So why do we work so hard to raise funds? Over sixty thousand dollars worth of grants in the form of goods and services have been disbursed throughout the communities of southeast Virginia since July of 2014.
